Who we are
Equus South Africa is the official trade body for the South African equine industry. This privacy notice explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you register your interest through our website.
What we collect
When you register your interest, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- Your organisation and role (if provided)
- Your country
- Your areas of interest (VIP launch, membership, partnership)
- Any message you choose to include
- The date and time of your registration
- How you reached our site (e.g. LinkedIn, direct)
We do not store your IP address. For abuse prevention, we store a one-way cryptographic hash that cannot be reversed to identify you.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- Send you updates about the launch of Equus South Africa
- Invite you to the VIP launch event (if you expressed interest)
- Provide membership information when the platform opens
- Respond to partnership and sponsorship enquiries
We will only contact you about matters related to Equus South Africa. We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Legal basis
We process your personal data based on your consent, which you provide when you tick the consent checkbox on our registration form. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
This processing complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in South Africa. If you are in the United Kingdom or European Union, we also comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
How long we keep it
We will retain your registration information until November 2027, one year after our planned launch. If you become a member, your information will be subject to our membership privacy policy. If you do not become a member, we will delete your information after this period.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

Data security
Your data is stored securely in the European Union (Ireland) using Amazon Web Services. Access is restricted to authorised personnel only. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Changes to this notice
We may update this privacy notice from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email.
